ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ of Worcester physical education and sports coaching student Matthew Hudson-Smith is on the brink of the ultimate sporting achievement after making it into the men's 400-metre final at the Rio Olympics this morning.
The 21-year-old 2014 European silver medallist surged through the field in the home straight to finish second in the third semi-final in a new personal best of 44.48 seconds.
Mick Donovan Head of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s Institute of Sport and Exercise Science said: "To see Matthew qualify for the Olympic 400m final is wonderful. He has achieved so much at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ during the past two years whilst also preparing for the Games in Rio.
