Sir Andrew, President of the Family Court, will give a talk titled “When parents fall apart, do they fall too easily into Court?”.

His talk is the first in a new annual lecture series sponsored by the High Sheriff of Worcestershire.

High Sheriff, Andrew Manning-Cox, said: “As the High Sheriff of Worcestershire, part of my role is to support legal and educational institutions across the County and to raise funds for my High Sheriff's Fund, a charity within the Worcestershire Community Foundation. This inaugural Lecture is a happy combination of the two.

“I am delighted that Sir Andrew has agreed to deliver the Lecture. Its subject is very timely, addressing a rapidly developing theme in the Family Court, close to Sir Andrew’s and his fellow judges’ hearts. Its underlying principles of course also resonate in broader civil litigation.

“I am grateful to Thursfields for their sponsorship.”

The lecture is being hosted by the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s School of Law, which was formally opened by Sir Andrew McFarlane in 2017. Sir Andrew was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ in June 2021.

Nicola Monaghan, Head of Law at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Sir Andrew back to the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s School of Law for this most interesting Lecture and are grateful to the High Sheriff for proposing it.”
